Spring week 6

What a week! Green class have been amazing as always :) We have had a special focus on mental health this week. We have been thinking about how to keep our minds healthy. We have been thinking about how to get more sleep. It is recommended that 6-7 year olds have 9-12 hours sleep a night. We have been thinking about what we love about ourselves, the importance of exercise and communicating our feelings. On Friday afternoon we had a mental health afternoon where children selected to do yoga, create calming patterns or do mindful colouring.

We also had a fantastic day on Tuesday for Chinese New Year. We worked in our house teams. We created lanterns, Chinese fans, did some dragon dancing, Chinese writing and some Chinese cooking. We then all tried the things we made including spring rolls, chicken chow mein  and egg fried rice. For desert we made cakes decorated as the Year of the pig :)
Some of us even used chop sticks!

For Maths we walked to the local shop and used real money and worked out our change and what we could afford.

We have also looked at using an empty number line for Maths. Below is an example if you wish to practice at home.

The children have been working on subtracting the tens then subtracting the ones.

In English we have looked at exclamation marks being used to show emotion and apostrophes used to show something belongs to someone.

Enjoy a lovely weekend.
