Week 4 Summer 2

Week 4 Summer

What a super week! We had a wonderful time at the Royal Norfolk Show and enjoyed learning about the animals and the old farming machinery. We also loved collecting lots of stickers and things! I am very proud of Green class as members of the public commented at how kind and helpful they were!

In Maths we have been problem solving this week. The challenge below shows Ruby working strategically to solve a problem.
The boys here are creating as many different houses only using 7 cubes as they can!

We have also been learning about keeping healthy and been writing non-fiction texts.

Thank you Green class for a lovely week!

Week 3 Summer term 2

Week 3 Summer 2

Green class want to thank everyone that came to Maths Cafe. We enjoyed sharing how we multiply using concrete resources and how we move on to pictorial representations. We have been doing lots of problem solving this week. We have looked at how many different ways we could make 36p to buy different sweets.

WOW- I hope you agree. Green class did amazingly well in their fashion show in sharing assembly, showing off their costumes they have made. Their confidence made me very proud!

Rehearsals for our show ' The greatest showman' are coming along well and all children have really tried hard remembering lines and stage directions! Thank you all for their amazing costumes!

Federation sports day was a huge success and Green class were amazing! We tried fencing. We also did dancing, forest schools and learnt about eating healthily.

Again Green class have gone above and beyond this week and have all worked so hard.

We have our new reading tree up now so please do make sure your child is reading at least 3 times a week at home. This will really help them to prepare for year 3. I know lots of the children are excited about Year 3 but are also feeling very nervous. You may want to be chatting about this at home. We will also be doing lots of talking about it at school and visiting Stalham too!

Week 2 Summer 2

Green class are now well underway with rehearsals for our Greatest showman show :)
Thank you so much for all the support that you are giving your children learning lines and songs!

A huge thank you to all the dads/grandfathers/uncles/brothers that came to celebrate fathers day with us. We really hope you enjoyed it as much as your children did! Happy fathers day from Green class for Sunday!

We have been learning about Malawi and Florence came to visit us all the way from Malawi. The children have asked her lots of questions to deepen their knowledge. Florence was able to give the children a chance to try some traditional  food. The children tried nsima some of us were not so keen. This is a traditional staple in their diet made from corn.

Week 4 Summer Term

We have had a fantastic week. We have been making chitenge patterns and have begun to create an item of clothing using our patterns. We used vegetables to do vegetable printing to create a pattern. We will complete our item of clothing next week :) We have learnt a bit about Malawi ready for our Federation day on Tuesday.

We have also learnt a lot about Florence Nightingale. We have pretended to administer medicine using ml to measure out exact amounts. We have also written facts that we have learnt about Florence Nightingale and will be creating an information leaflet next week. These will be on display for you to have a look at after half term.

On Friday we looked at the outfit nurses wore while Florence Nightingale was nursing and we had a go at designing our own. Here are a few photographs!

During our fashion show!

Summer Week 2

Summer Week 2

I am sure you will agree that Green class did a fantastic job on May Day doing maypole dancing and setting up their stall. I am especially impressed with all the children that stood in for the children that were absent in an additional dance. I want to say  thank you all for being so brave and dedicated. The children designed and set our 'brain bucket' stall up. They thought about pricing, giving change, advertisement and budgeting.

Thank you for those that came to see Green class share 'supertato' in celebration assembly. They have worked hard to remember the story. They have used this story to base their own stories on. Green class wrote stories and they are brilliant. Please feel free when you next pop in to have a look at your child's story.

In maths we have been looking at addition and subtraction on an empty number line.

We have also been learning to count in 10's starting from any number. For example- 8,18,28,38,48.
This may be something you wish to practice at home.

SATS will start next week. Next week will be a reading paper and some children will also do Maths paper 1. Please make sure you are reading as much at home as possible and any additional maths work will be useful for your child. Early nights and good breakfasts will also help them along :) Any questions please come and see me.

Summer Week 1

Summer Week 1

What a lovely first week back! We have really enjoyed ourselves. The trip to Marriots Way. We found out that it used to be a railway. We walked along the old railway path in our houses and enjoyed helping the younger children find different creatures and plants. We did a scavenger hunt and then went pond dipping and den making. The dens were AWESOME! Some of them we could get a whole house of children in! They were very creative with washing lines and camp fires next to them!

In English we looked at writing recounts using conjunctions, commas and adverbs.

In Maths we created pictograms and interpreted them. If you have a computer at home this is a useful link to a game. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/Flash.aspx?f=pictograms
(You will need to enable flash player)

On St Georges day we celebrated by dressing up as princesses and knights. We learnt the story of George and the Dragon and acted it out.

Last full week of year 2!

Summer Week 6 On Monday we went to Bewilderwood and we loved it! Once we arrived we went on the boat and listened to the story. Some of...
