Week 4 Summer Term

We have had a fantastic week. We have been making chitenge patterns and have begun to create an item of clothing using our patterns. We used vegetables to do vegetable printing to create a pattern. We will complete our item of clothing next week :) We have learnt a bit about Malawi ready for our Federation day on Tuesday.

We have also learnt a lot about Florence Nightingale. We have pretended to administer medicine using ml to measure out exact amounts. We have also written facts that we have learnt about Florence Nightingale and will be creating an information leaflet next week. These will be on display for you to have a look at after half term.

On Friday we looked at the outfit nurses wore while Florence Nightingale was nursing and we had a go at designing our own. Here are a few photographs!

Summer Week 2

Summer Week 2

I am sure you will agree that Green class did a fantastic job on May Day doing maypole dancing and setting up their stall. I am especially impressed with all the children that stood in for the children that were absent in an additional dance. I want to say  thank you all for being so brave and dedicated. The children designed and set our 'brain bucket' stall up. They thought about pricing, giving change, advertisement and budgeting.

Thank you for those that came to see Green class share 'supertato' in celebration assembly. They have worked hard to remember the story. They have used this story to base their own stories on. Green class wrote stories and they are brilliant. Please feel free when you next pop in to have a look at your child's story.

In maths we have been looking at addition and subtraction on an empty number line.

We have also been learning to count in 10's starting from any number. For example- 8,18,28,38,48.
This may be something you wish to practice at home.

SATS will start next week. Next week will be a reading paper and some children will also do Maths paper 1. Please make sure you are reading as much at home as possible and any additional maths work will be useful for your child. Early nights and good breakfasts will also help them along :) Any questions please come and see me.

Summer Week 1

Summer Week 1

What a lovely first week back! We have really enjoyed ourselves. The trip to Marriots Way. We found out that it used to be a railway. We walked along the old railway path in our houses and enjoyed helping the younger children find different creatures and plants. We did a scavenger hunt and then went pond dipping and den making. The dens were AWESOME! Some of them we could get a whole house of children in! They were very creative with washing lines and camp fires next to them!

In English we looked at writing recounts using conjunctions, commas and adverbs.

In Maths we created pictograms and interpreted them. If you have a computer at home this is a useful link to a game. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/Flash.aspx?f=pictograms
(You will need to enable flash player)

On St Georges day we celebrated by dressing up as princesses and knights. We learnt the story of George and the Dragon and acted it out.

Spring 2 Week 5

We have been busy again this week!

We have been learning about farming and where our food comes from. We have also began to look at life cycles. We visited Easton college farm and had a wonderful day! Thank you for getting your child to school early and collecting them late. It was well worth it we had a great day and learned lots :)

We have also been making cards for Mothers day (check their book bags Sunday) and been thinking about all the things our Mums do for us! We are very thankful! We hope you enjoyed the Mothers Day Tea Party! We enjoyed making sandwiches and hope you liked them! We really appreciate everybody that attended!

We have also started our maypole dancing ready for the Spring Fayre. We will continue to practice this next week.

In English we have been starting to create an information leaflet about farming and in Maths we have worked on telling the time. We have also recapped subtraction, multiplication, addition and division.  Practising telling the time at home; o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to will really help your child.

In phonics we have looked at the all sound in always, fall, hall etc. We have also looked at the o sometimes making the u sound ie son, other.

Next week we have Easter craft morning, hope to see some of you there :)
