Spring Week 5

Green class have been super busy this week. We have been learning to write instructions. We have learnt to use number bullet points and start our sentences using the verb. Some of us have even used adverbs!

We designed and made our own games. We wrote instructions for these games and played them with our friends.

We have been looking at money and using a number line to subtract to work out how much change we would receive. Sorry we didn't make it to the shop this week but we will be going one day next week. Once the day has been confirmed I will get a note out. Thank you for supporting us by providing your child with money.

This week we have also been thinking about the special people in our life and how they care for us :) We used a stick to represent us and added colour to represent people who look after us.

On Thursday in our school carousel some of us went into the forest schools area.
We had some hot chocolate in the dens we made.

Thank you Green class for a lovely week.

Spring Week 4

 Green Class Week 4

We enjoyed raising money in non-school uniform on Monday for the NSPCC. We found our visitor who brought buddy with her very interesting. We learnt that we should speak out and stay safe.

In Maths we have been looking at halving 2 digit numbers.  We partitioned tens and ones and then halved each one and added them together.
We practised using base 10 and numicon.

In English this week we have looked at the es/s suffix, est/er suffix nd the le/el/al spelling rule.

We have been looking at herbivores, carnivores and omnivores this week and have been acting these animals out.

We have also been thinking about different feelings and how to explain how we feel to somebody else.

Green class would also like to thank everyone that comes to drop and read each Wednesday morning. We had a fantastic time reading stories this week.

Spring week 3

Green class Spring Week 3

We have learnt about fractions and finding 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 1/5, 2/5. We have been doing this by sharing.

We have also looked at the 'est' suffix this week. We looked at adding the suffix to root words for example taller/tallest. We also looked at the rule of removing the e and adding est on words such as bravest.

We have been looking at Diwali and have learnt the story of Rama and Sita. We looked at the festival of light and made our own tea light holder.

We have been learning about farming and how it has changed. We looked at how machines have made things quicker. We made butter the old fashioned way rather than buying it from the shop. We used cream and shook it until it became butter. We then tried our own butter.

We have been thinking about our own and others feelings and how we show feelings.
We have made our own collage pictures this week.

Well done to all of the children who read at home 3 times this week. We had so many more children reading at home. Thank you.

Spring 1 week 1

Welcome back! I hope that you had a fantastic Christmas holiday! Thank you for all of our cards and gifts!

Wow, what fantastic home learning from so many children. I have really enjoyed reading all of your facts about space. I really enjoyed taking Frankie's quiz! There were some incredible 3D planets made! There was some fantastic measuring happening.

We have been learning a poem which we will show you in sharing on Friday :)

On Thursday we did some Science. We created our own scientific experiments and tested properties of materials. We looked at if the materials were opaque, transparent, translucent, waterproof, rough, hard and flexible.

We also have been looking at collecting data (information) using tallies and creating block diagrams. We can count in 5's.
We have interpreted these by looking at the least popular, most popular and the difference between them.

Thanks Green class for a lovely first week back!

Week 5 Autumn 2

Green class Week 5 Autumn 2 :)

Wow what a week, we have been so busy! Thank you to everyone that came to Christmas craft morning. Thank you for all your patience with the drilling of Christmas baubles and threading! They look amazing! We are looking forward to seeing them on Monday in Church! Please check all children have the consent form for local walk returned.

We have been doing headings and writing our own non-fiction book on space this week. The children's books are looking great!
We grouped facts and decided on the heading.

We have been looking at division by grouping this week. We set up a sweet shop and had to pack in packets of 4. We designed our own packets thinking about price and weight. We could all solve the missing number sentence!

We have also been thinking about properties of materials. We have thought about how to test if something is waterproof, transparent or rigid. We have designed our own experiments and will be testing them this week.

Last full week of year 2!

Summer Week 6 On Monday we went to Bewilderwood and we loved it! Once we arrived we went on the boat and listened to the story. Some of...
